Norwich Free Academy welcomes a new School Resource Officer (SRO) NFA 2012 Alumni, Briana Santiago of the Norwich Police Department, to the campus. School Resource Officers are law enforcement officers who work to prevent crime and boost welfare in schools.

Her job at NFA really started when she became the advisor for the Law Enforcement club, and now as NFA’s SRO her impact on campus is much larger.  With the club she encourages police and community relationships, while discussing the profession of law enforcement. “It’s very important that we all work together as a whole to keep the youth out of the juvenile justice system and encourage them to become successful responsible adults” stated Santiago.

Selected from 8 potential candidates, Norwich Free Academy Campus Safety Director Wayne Sheehan, selected Santiago because she demonstrated the important qualities they were looking for, “connecting with students, being involved in extracurricular activities, and ensuring student safety.”
