Class of 2019 Prom King and Queen Nominees

Blooming cherry blossoms and warmer weather indicate that spring has sprung at NFA! One of the most looked forward to spring events is prom. Prom is considered by many to be a rite of passage for American high school students. The colorful prom dresses, creative promposals, and crowning of Prom King and Queen are just a few aspects that make prom night special.
Every year, uppers and seniors can nominate one another for Prom King or Queen. This year, the nominees for the Class of 2019 Prom King and Queen include Sydney Brewer. Jonathan Synott, Genevieve Buckridge, Daniel Chong Cuy, Mikaylah Mejias, and James Everett.
Nominees for Prom Queen
Sydney Brewer
Hometown: Voluntown
Favorite hobbies: Photography, anything animal-related, and supporting friends and family

To Sydney, Prom means “a special time in your high school life where you can make some of the most important memories of your youth. It’s a night where you can dress to the nines and just dance the night away.”
Sydney and Jon have been dating for almost two years.

Eve Buckridge

Eve has been dating Dan for a year.
“[My favorite quality of Dan is] how kind he is, not just to me, but others as well, no matter who it is. Also his sense of humor, he never ceases to make me laugh. It’s always the best time with him.” stated Eve.
To Eve, Prom means “a great experience to bond with your peers, you get to hang out with all the juniors and have a good time.”

Future after NFA: Study to become a registered nurse at URI

“I think winning prom queen would show that I am active at school and people support what I’m doing around here,” stated Mejias.

Jon has been dating Sydney for almost two years.
“We started talking in the spring of freshman year and she’s just so important in my life now. I love spending time with her and can’t wait for memories to come. The thing I most admire about her is her persistence. No matter how bad of a break she may get, she finds a way to stay positive and push through. She is without a doubt the strongest person I know,” stated Synott.
